I was project lead for the Watts Wind Power control system. This was a complex software system to maximize power production in the varying wind conditions from 100 feet to 1000 feet. We built a prototype test module in Lubbock Texas. The software control system proposed many engineering challenges during the design and build. Normal wind turbines rotate at slow speeds and ours was engineered to function at 600 rpm's. The entire wind farm was designed to function from a central software control room. It used GPS navigation software and spread spectrum communications software to monitor the cathodic protection used in buried transfer pipes. Cathodic protection is vital to keep corrosion from weakening long term gas pipes. To survey the pipeline all you had to do was drive within 100-200 feet of a buried survey point, or 1000 feet for above ground installations. Click learn more. With the ProsTM software put your golf swing next to Phil Mickelson and Rick Smith would give you a complete golf lesson. The software was written by Tom Peters and I was in charge of engineering much of the processes to facilitate mass sales of cd's and Pictures sold online. I designed a system to download all the overnight orders and process them with no human intervention until shipping. The challenge was coordinating all the different graphics for different golf events. The system needed crank out the correct pictures and cd's for each individual client every day. The Micro-Systems Inc. Data MasterTM hardware and software quality control system was widely used in many manufacturing environments. The software was written in Borland C++ on the MS-DOS platform. The system connected to sensors to take readings on a manufactured product and offer full statistics helping the clients make higher quality product. We were in everything from engine plants to glass plants. The system offered full statistical analysis of your process. Click the learn more button. |
